CourtesyPay – What You Need to Know About Overdrafts
How does PowerNet treat overdrafts? We have always strived to help members when things don’t go as planned. An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover the transaction, but we pay it anyway. We cover your overdrafts the following ways:
First - from other accounts: We provide an overdraft protection transfer service that moves money from another designated suffix when your share draft suffix is overdrawn because a transaction posted to your account without sufficient funds to cover the item. There is a fee for this transfer.
Second – from CourtesyPay: If there are no available funds in any of your designated suffixes, you may qualify for our CourtesyPay Service, designed to help those members who qualify for the additional option of overdrawing their account for up to $500. How do you qualify? First, you must be a member for at least 90-days, you must be a member in good standing and have a direct deposit of at least $500 within the last 30-days.
Third – we’ll call you: If there are not sufficient funds in any of your designated suffixes and you either don’t qualify or the transaction is above your CourtesyPay limit, we will notify you of the overdraft. We typically give you until 12:00PM to deposit the money to cover the item(s). Although you will be charged an NSF fee, this service allows you to avoid the embarrassment of having a transaction returned as well as the additional fees that would follow. If you get the money deposited into your account by noon, we will not return the item.
If I qualify for CourtesyPay, how does it apply to my account? We authorize & pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions (Debit Card transactions are included only if you ask us to):

We do not guarantee that we will always authorize & pay any type of transaction – There is no limit on the total fees we can charge you for overdrawing your account. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined. You will be charged a fee for non-sufficient funds per our fee schedule.
How Can I Sign Up for Courtesy Pay for One-Time Debit Card Transactions?
If you also want us to authorize and pay overdrafts on everyday Debit Card transactions, you can do so by:
- Logging onto your PowerNet It’sMe247 Online or Mobile Banking App, selecting “Overdraft Services” under “Account Services” menu, then clicking “Yes, I want the credit union to authorize & Pay overdrafts…”;
- Submitting your authorization electronically by selecting the “Accept” button to the right; Accept
- Calling a member service representative at (888) 463-6237
